Where I come from
Before this bench: PS Audio, Ayre Acoustics, and TMR Audio — combined 15 years.
PS Audio — nearly a decade. Circuit-level diagnostics, firmware recoveries, hundreds of DirectStream recoveries, Power Plant repairs. Customer support that went beyond the ticket. Dealing with problems other people didn't want to touch.
Ayre Acoustics and TMR Audio — five more years. High-end solid-state, tube hybrids, and the kind of gear where one bad solder joint costs you a $2,000 board. Learned precision the hard way: on gear where there is no room for error.
I learned what trust looks like when expensive gear isn't working. You don't swap a board and hope. You find the failing part. You name it. You tell the customer exactly what's wrong and exactly what it costs before you touch anything.
That's the standard I brought to my own bench.

Right to Repair
Replace the 50-cent cap, not the $500 board. Your hardware, your right to keep it running.
No Board-Swap Guessing
Most shops swap the board and charge you for it. I find the failing component. That's the difference between a $3 part and a $500 repair.
Honest Diagnosis
If it's not worth fixing, I tell you. You don't pay to hear it. The diagnostic fee is credited toward any repair you approve.
This Is Personal
