Bluetooth radio mods. Keep the look. Stream from your phone.

The radio on the shelf is the furniture; the music lives in your pocket now. A Bluetooth kit installed inside the cabinet joins them: no visible boxes, no extra holes, the knobs and dial exactly where grandma left them. Old sets get a safety look before any kit lands, and battery kits for boomboxes are promised honestly, because chassis vary. Every job is quoted after we look. Walk in or ship it in from anywhere in the U.S.

✓ Quoted after we look: parts + labor ✓ One flat quote, approved before work starts ✓ Original parts travel home with the unit ✓ 90-day labor warranty

What we do on the radio mod bench

Quoted after we look. The number comes from what your set actually needs to take a kit cleanly.

Bluetooth module installs

Quoted after we look

The core mod: a Bluetooth module tapped cleanly into the radio's audio stage, hidden inside the cabinet. Original look, knobs, and tuner untouched. Pair, play, and put the phone away.

Boombox installs

Quoted after we look

Portable stereos from the golden age of boomboxes take kits beautifully: bigger cabinets, real speakers, room for the module. The box keeps its attitude and gains your playlists.

Battery & power kits

Quoted after we look

Battery and portable-power kits vary by chassis and are promised honestly: some boxes take a clean lithium install with proper protection, and some do not. We look first and quote only what will actually work.

Restore-and-modernize combos

Quoted after we look

The full-attention job: safety cap and fuse upgrades, warm-white LED dial lamps, and the Bluetooth input, done together so the set is safe, bright, and streaming in one pass.

Why the radio mod bench stays busy

Old sets win people over in patterns. These are the three that walk in most.

The radio is the furniture

Grandmother's radio is not getting replaced by a hockey puck of a speaker. A hidden module keeps the object in the room and modernizes only what plays through it.

Original look untouched means original value untouched

No cut holes, no external dongles, no painted-over panels. The mod is planned so the set stays recognizable as itself, which is what keeps a vintage piece worth owning.

Old sets need a safety look first

Hot-chassis designs and dried capacitors are real hazards before anything modern lands inside. The check comes before the kit, and safety upgrades are quoted with the job when they are owed.

Walk in or mail it in

Radios travel well wrapped: padded on all sides with knobs and antennas protected. However it reaches the bench, the quote comes before the work.

What we don't do

Scope stated plainly, so you know before you ship anything.

Honest limits

  • Battery kits are promised by chassis, not by catalog. Some boxes take a clean lithium install; some do not have the room or the safe layout. Quoted after we look, and a no is a real answer.
  • Tuner-first honesty. Where the original tuner works it stays usable, as a source alongside Bluetooth. Where it is dead, the repair comes first and is quoted separately.
  • Car audio lives on the car lane. Head units, dash retrofits, and vehicle installs are car audio & tech work, a different bench with different rules.
  • Amplifier-level restoration is the audio bench. Tube and vintage amplifier repair lives on the audiophile page; combos between the two lanes get one coordinated quote.

Bluetooth radio mod questions

The things people ask before they box up a radio.

Straight answers

Will my radio still look original?

Yes; that is the whole point. The Bluetooth module hides inside the cabinet, fed from the existing audio stage, with no visible boxes, dongles, or extra holes. From the front it is the radio your family knows; from your phone it is a speaker on the Wi-Fi-free side of streaming.

Can I still use the AM/FM tuner?

Where the original tuner still works, it stays usable: the Bluetooth input joins the radio as a source, it does not replace it. Where the tuner is dead, that is a repair quote first and a mod decision after. You see both numbers before anything starts.

How much does a Bluetooth mod cost?

Quoted after we look. A mod is parts plus labor: we check the set, match the kit to its audio stage, and hand you one flat quote before anything starts. Diagnosis is $49 and free when you approve the work.

Can you add battery power to a boombox?

Sometimes, and honestly: battery and portable-power kits vary a lot by chassis. Some boxes take a clean lithium install; some do not have the room or the safe layout for one. We look first, tell you straight, and quote only what will actually work.

Can I mail you my radio?

Yes, anywhere in the U.S. Request an RMA number online and pack the radio on all sides in a padded box, knobs and antennas protected. We diagnose within 3 to 5 business days of arrival and email one flat quote.

Are old radios safe to modify?

Some vintage sets deserve respect before any mod: hot-chassis designs and decades-old capacitors are real electrical hazards. The safety check comes first on this bench, and safety cap and fuse upgrades are part of the restore-and-modernize work, quoted with the job.
