How it works

No surprises. You always know where your gear is and what happens next.

01

Email or form, with photos first

Fill out the mail-in form and mark it as shipping. It takes two minutes; the more you tell us about the fault, the faster the diagnosis goes. Send photos first: reply to your RMA email with a few photos of the device before you box it up, and we’ll tell you honestly if it’s worth shipping at all.

02

Get your RMA number

The form takes two minutes. The RMA is how we match your box to your ticket the minute it lands, so it’s required.

03

Pack and ship

Your device in a padded box, that box inside a second box with 2+ inches of padding on all sides. Write your RMA number on the outside. Big and on two sides. Please include your name, phone number, and a note describing the problem inside the package.

04

Quote by email. Approve it, or we ship it back.

The day your box lands we open it, match it to your RMA, and email you a confirmation. You get the flat quote before any work starts. Approve it and we fix it; the return shipping is already covered. Decline it and we ship it back. Return shipping still included.

Why ship it here

The promises are the same ones locals get. Distance changes the shipping label, not the deal.

Track it like a local

You get the same status page local customers use. Your ticket number shows where your repair stands, the same way it would if you’d walked it in. Track a repair any time.

You pay only after you approve

Nothing happens without your approval. You approve, then we work, and you pay only after you’ve said yes to the quote.

Declared value on the way in

Please insure the package for the device’s replacement value; it covers the shipment in case anything goes wrong in transit. Insurance is never included. Inbound shipping is your label and your call; returns ship uninsured by default, and an insured return can be added on request at carrier cost on your invoice. The extra is exactly what the carrier charges, nothing padded on.

How to pack it

The base move is always the same: box in a box, two inches of padding on every side, nothing loose in the outer box, RMA written on two sides.

  • Original box or not, box in a box. Your device in a padded box, that box inside a second box with 2+ inches of padding on all sides. Devices loose in a single bag get destroyed by couriers.
  • Write your RMA number on the outside. Big and on two sides.
  • Batteries: tape the terminals and bag them separately if they’re removable (power tool packs especially). Couriers reject loose lithium.
  • Include the charger only if the problem is charging or power. Otherwise it’s one more thing to ship back.
  • Nothing loose in the outer box. Accessories ride bagged and padded; loose cables and bricks are the classic inner-box crusher.

What we take

A partial list. The rest arrives in the mail.

Vintage computers

Apple IIs, Commodores, classic Macs, old workstations, the family computer nobody else will open. Scarce parts and reverse engineering are the job, not the excuse.

Test equipment

Scopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, bench supplies. Working, uncalibrated, or fully dark.

Synths and drum machines

Analog and digital. Keys that don’t trigger, voices that drift, power supplies that gave up mid-set, and the unit that hasn’t made a sound in a decade.

Guitar amps

Tube and solid state. Hum, crackle, no output, dead channels, and the reverb that ate your sound.

Pinball and arcade boards

Driver boards, CPU boards, power supplies, and the machine that’s been dark for years. One board at a time if that’s what it takes.

Turntables

Direct drive, belt drive, and the idler-drive oddballs. Motors, speed control, tonearm wiring, and the hum that won’t quit.

Odd formats

Reel-to-reel, 8-track, DAT, MiniDisc. If playing it has become a lost art, repairing it is one too, and we’re keeping both alive.

Questions people ask before they ship

Something else on your mind? Call (720) 964-0064. We like the weird calls.

What does it cost?

The diagnosis is a flat $49, credited to the repair if you approve it. Return shipping is included with every repair, weight-tiered on packed size (up to 15 lbs included; heavier is a flat rate, on the mail-in page). If the honest answer is that your machine isn’t worth the money, the diagnosis is free and we’ll tell you why. We’d rather lose the repair than sell you one.

How long does it take?

The day your box lands we open it, match it to your RMA, and email you a confirmation. The full diagnosis takes 3–5 business days from arrival, and the quote arrives by email. Board-level work and parts orders can add time, and we tell you that with the quote, not after it.

Is my quote binding?

Yes. The number you approve is the number you pay. Everything is a written quote with photos: parts listed separately, labor listed plainly, no surprises. You approve the number before we touch a screwdriver.

What if it’s not worth fixing?

Send photos first and we’ll tell you honestly before you spend shipping money. Sometimes the right call is “don’t spend money on this.” You’ll hear it when it’s true, and in that case the diagnosis doesn’t cost you anything. We’d rather lose the repair than sell you one.
