Wii mods and service. Both consoles, one bench.
The Wii and the Wii U are the same family, and both deserve a second act: USB loader and homebrew setup, storage that holds a real library, the GameCube compatibility the Wii famously carries, and the drive and laser work that keeps it all spinning. Every job is quoted after we look: kit cost plus labor, one flat quote before anything starts. Walk in or ship it in from anywhere in the U.S.
What we do on the Wii bench
Quoted after we look. The number comes from your console, its revision, and the job it takes, not from a menu.
Diagnosis
$49The $49 diagnosis answers the real questions first: which console and board revision you have, whether the drive is healthy, and what the whole job costs. Free when you approve the work, and free when the verdict is not worth doing.
USB loader & homebrew setup
Quoted after we lookDone properly: homebrew installed, USB loader configured, a hard drive laid out for your library, and everything verified loading before the console goes home. The drive's contents are your library to manage. Kit cost + labor.
The Wii U side
Quoted after we lookTwo consoles in one box. We set up homebrew on the Wii U and its built-in Wii mode, so both libraries live on modern storage and the console finally shows what it could always do. Kit cost + labor.
GameCube compatibility
Quoted after we lookThe Wii plays GameCube discs, and the setup around it is where we help: controllers, memory cards, and the loader config that makes the titles behave. The deep GameCube hardware work, GCLoader included, lives on the GameCube mods page. Kit cost + labor.
Hardware service
Quoted after diagnosisDisc drives that will not read, lasers on their way out where replacement kits exist, and the fan-and-thermal cleanup both consoles need with age. Quoted after diagnosis.
Why the Wii bench stays busy
The family fails in patterns. These are the three we see most.
A library locked to a dying format
Discs scratch and the drive wears with every spin. A USB loader takes the wear item out of the equation: the library lives on a drive, and the laser stops mattering.
The Wii U did not deserve its fate
A great console with quiet ideas. Homebrew setup on the Wii U and its Wii mode is how the box shows what it could always do, on storage that will not quit.
The GameCube hiding inside
Controller ports, memory card slots, and full disc compatibility: the Wii is the friendliest GameCube ever made, and the setup lane is where it earns that name.
Walk in or mail it in
Either console travels well in a padded box. However it reaches the bench, the quote comes before the work.
How a mod goes
- 01Walk in. 2224 Sunrise Dr, Longmont · Mon–Fri 9–6, Sat–Sun 10–3. Or mail it in from anywhere in the U.S.: request an RMA number online first.
- 02We look. Console and revision identified, drive checked, one flat quote covering kit cost plus labor, emailed or handed over. You approve before anything starts.
- 03The work. Setup done and verified loading, the whole console tested, your original parts and storage returned with it.
- 04Home. Shipped back or picked up, with a 90-day labor warranty and the straight story of what was done.
What we don't do
Scope stated plainly, so you know before you ship anything.
Honest limits
- Repairs stay stock; mods are their own lane. A no-power console or dead drive is a repair, quoted on the retro console bench after diagnosis. Once it runs, this page takes over. The full console front door is right here.
- The storage is your library. We set up the loaders and prove games load; what lives on the drive afterward is yours to manage.
- Softmod honesty. The setup touches system files. We do it carefully and verify every step, and if a console arrives already bricked we assess after diagnosis instead of promising a resurrection.
- GameCube hardware is a deeper bench. GCLoader installs, digital AV mods, and region work for the cube itself live on the GameCube mods page; full resto-mod commissions are the custom bench, quoted per project.
