What the classic bench does
Quoted per model plus parts, before any work starts.
Diagnosis
Free when you approveBench test and a straight answer. The $49 fee applies only if you decline a fixable repair, and if it's not worth fixing, you pay nothing either way.
iPod battery replacement
Quoted + partsThe reason most iPods "die" is a battery that gave up years ago. New cell, proper fit, tested through a full charge cycle before it goes home.
iPod disk & storage service
Quoted + partsClicks, skips, sad-face icons. A compatible stock-type drive when a good one is available, fitted and formatted. No SSD conversions: we restore, we don't convert.
Screen & click wheel service
Quoted + partsDead pixels, blank displays, unresponsive wheels. Parts ordered per generation, fitted stock, tested before pickup.
Classic electronics restoration
Quoted per itemWalkmans, Discmans, pocket radios, receivers and drawer gear: cleaned, belts and capacitors as needed, brought back to how it played when it was new.
Why restore instead of replace
They stopped making these. You kept yours for a reason.
They don't make them anymore
A classic iPod can't be re-bought. When the battery or the disk goes, the choice is a repair or a drawer forever.
Restoration to stock
Original look, original feel, original click. No conversions bolted in: your iPod comes back as itself, working.
Parts ordered per model
Every generation is different inside. We order for your exact model and quote the real number before we start.
The honest answer, free
Some units aren't worth fixing, and you'll hear it when it's true. You won't pay to hear it.
What the classic bench doesn't do
Scope stated plainly, so there are no surprises at pickup.
Out of scope, deliberately
- No conversions. No iFlash boards, SSD swaps, Bluetooth or USB-C mods. Stock-specification restoration only.
- No data-recovery promises. If work touches the drive, we flag the risk before we start; a dead drive means your music may be gone for good, and no honest shop can promise it back.
- No screen mods or case chrome. We fix what's broken; we don't restyle.
- No CRT televisions or monitors. High voltage inside the tube is a genuine safety hazard. We repair what plugs into them, not the glass.
Walk it in or ship it
An iPod ships fine in a padded envelope. Either way, the quote comes first.
How it works
- 01Walk in. 2224 Sunrise Dr, Longmont · Mon–Fri 9–6, Sat–Sun 10–3. Bring the iPod (and its cable if you have it) and we'll diagnose on the spot where possible.
- 02Ship it in. Anywhere in the U.S.: get an RMA number online, pad it well, and we diagnose within 24 hours of arrival and email a flat quote.
- 03Approve the quote. Nothing gets repaired until you say go. Diagnosis is free when you approve; the $49 fee applies only if you decline a fixable repair.

Straight answers
Quoted per model plus parts, before any work starts. Different generations take different batteries, so the diagnosis settles the number. Diagnosis is $49 and free when you approve the repair.
No. We restore to stock specification with compatible stock-type parts. No iFlash boards, no SSD swaps, no Bluetooth or USB-C conversions. We restore, we don't convert.
Often, yes. Long-dead iPods usually fail on the battery or the disk, and both are normal bench work. The diagnosis tells you what you're in before you spend anything, and it's free when you approve the repair.
We'll be honest about what's possible. If the drive still reads, your library usually comes off intact and can go back onto the restored iPod or a computer. If the drive is dead, no repair at any shop can promise it back. Storage work only starts after you know the risk.
Case by case. Walkmans, Discmans, radios, receivers, tape decks and drawer gear are regular bench work. Ask before you ship: if it's outside our lane, we'll say so straight.
Yes: 90 days on labor, same as every repair that leaves this bench.
Dead iPod? Let's look.
Call the shop any time: our AI receptionist answers around the clock and a human follows up. Or run the repair wizard for a first-pass assessment before you commit to anything. Walk-ins welcome at the Longmont bench.
