Our work

A repair shop earns trust one job at a time. Every entry below is a real job that came through the bench: the device, the symptom, and what we actually did. No customer names, ever — the gear is the story.

Audio & music

Onkyo TX-7000 receiver

Symptom: intermittent distortion and a right channel that would fade to almost nothing

What we did: traced to a dirty volume control with a knob working loose on its shaft — cleaned with proper contact treatment, reflowed the control’s pins, tightened the knob, and verified DC offset at the speaker terminals on both channels. It left measuring even from FM to tape to aux.

Yamaha CDC-605 CD changer

Symptom: skipping on every disc — but only after it had been playing a while

What we did: a transport drying out with age: full disc-tray teardown, deep internal clean, careful laser cleaning, every factory grease point re-lubricated, then hours of burn-in instead of minutes. the full story →

Two Notes Torpedo load box

Symptom: faceplate buttons jammed and unusable

What we did: a seized screw trapped behind the faceplate — extracted it, realigned the panel and confirmed every button working again, then cleaned the unit and tested it through its full range.

Vehicles & power

TRU S45 car audio amplifier

Symptom: blowing its fuses the instant it powered up

What we did: a blown B+ trace and a protection diode shorted dead — quoted with photos and repaired only after written approval, with under $5 in parts. The fuse-killer stopped killing fuses. the full story →

Computers & gaming

Dell Inspiron 15 3000 laptop

Symptom: slow at everything — boot, browsing, all of it

What we did: dried-out thermal paste and the original spinning hard drive: fresh paste, a 512 GB SSD upgrade, and a clean factory Windows install. A barely-used machine underneath the age.

Lenovo ThinkPad T14 (post-warranty-repair)

Symptom: running hotter than ever after a warranty motherboard replacement

What we did: load testing proved the hardware was right all along — the heat was startup software dragging the machine down. An honest diagnosis with no unnecessary work sold. the full story →

Lenovo ThinkPad T14 (thermal service)

Symptom: running hot under daily use

What we did: thermal service and a stubborn background process — temperatures verified at idle afterward, with fan and paste both exonerated by the numbers.

Desktop PC

Symptom: loud rattle at boot and under load

What we did: a CPU fan connector that was never fully seated, dried paste, and a dust load — reconnected, repasted, cleaned out. Quiet again, with a cooler upgrade noted for the future.
